1. Overview
At UnboundQuests, we want you to enjoy discovering and supporting authentic African and diasporic stories with confidence. This Refund Policy explains when refunds are available, how to request them, and our process for handling them.
Because most of our products are digital (stories, chapters, subscriptions, and marketplace services), refunds are limited. This policy complies with South Africa’s Consumer Protection Act (CPA) and the rules of our payment processors PayPal and Paystack.
2. Digital Content & One-Time Purchases
Once you have purchased or unlocked a story, chapter, bundle, or any other digital content and it has been delivered to your account, the purchase is generally **non-refundable**.
This includes any content you have opened, previewed, or downloaded. Digital goods are considered “used” immediately upon access.
3. Subscriptions & Recurring Payments
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Cancellation stops future billing but does not provide a refund for the current billing period.
Refunds for the current subscription period are granted only in exceptional cases (e.g., technical failure preventing access for more than 48 hours).
4. When Refunds May Be Issued
We will consider refunds in the following situations:
• Technical errors on our side that prevent you from accessing content you paid for.
• Duplicate or accidental charges.
• Unauthorized transactions (please contact your bank or payment provider immediately in these cases).
• Content that violates our Content Guidelines and is removed by us within 7 days of purchase.
All refund requests must be made within 14 days of the original transaction date.
5. How to Request a Refund
1. Log into your UnboundQuests account.
2. Go to your Purchase History or Wallet section.
3. Find the relevant transaction and click “Request Refund”.
4. Provide a brief reason and any supporting details.
We aim to respond within 5 business days. Approved refunds are processed back to the original payment method within 7–10 business days.
6. Payment Processor Rules (PayPal & Paystack)
All payments are processed by PayPal and Paystack. Refunds are subject to their policies:
• PayPal: See PayPal’s Refund Policy in their User Agreement.
• Paystack: Refunds are processed according to Paystack’s Merchant Services Agreement.
If you initiate a chargeback or dispute directly with PayPal or Paystack, we reserve the right to restrict your account until the matter is resolved.
7. No Refunds in These Cases
• Content you have already accessed or downloaded.
• Requests made more than 14 days after purchase.
• Purchases made during promotional periods or with discount codes (unless the promotion explicitly allows refunds).
• Violations of our Terms of Service or Content Guidelines.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. The version posted on this page at the time of your purchase will apply to that transaction.
Continued use of the platform after changes means you accept the updated policy.
